Xerox has formed an alliance with CHOICE Administrators Exchange Solutions in all 50 states to offer a comprehensive, secure, cloud-based Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) solution. The state has approved a plan by the Retailers’ Association of Massachusetts to create a small business cooperative for buying health insurance plans as a group, giving the employers access to less expensive plans. The approval came just as the Massachusetts Health Connector was relaunching its Business Express program, an online insurance marketplace similar to the one the agency provides for ... Members Meet with Key Congressional Offices to Urge Endorsement of Proposed Bill and Health Care Reform Provisions that Support Hearing Health LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Members of the National Hearing Industry Alliance (NHIA), a division of the... Brevard Health Alliance was awarded a nearly $2.4 million federal grant to create a regional health center in Melbourne that officials say will greatly expand medical care for those lacking adequate — or any — insurance. Did you listen to Monday morning’s Supreme Court hearing on the Affordable Care Act? Is your head swimming? Mine too. I’ve asked a few health law professors to give us their first impressions -- and to interpret some of the lingo. WASHINGTON (NNPA) – Even if the Affordable Care Act survives U.S. Supreme Court scrutiny, a favorable ruling this summer will not serve as a cure-all for insuring African Americans, according to health professionals and a report in the current issue of Health Affairs. As a mother of my beautiful 2-year-old daughter, Layla, making sure that my family and I have access to affordable, consistent health care has always been top priority.
For most people, the oral cavity (mouth) is a mysterious place. It is difficult to see and it changes throughout life's stages from childhood, to middle age and through into old age. Teeth seem to come and go in a bewildering pattern of events, giving rise to a number of popular myths that see some people convinced that their child had '12 rows of teeth like a shark'. Overcrowding, bleeding gums, extra long teeth and 'black stumps' are perfectly explainable in terms of hygiene and heredity. Nevertheless, popular stories abound that are designed to excuse the condition on a range of grounds that deflect the blame from the family or individual who, most often, simply has poor oral hygiene.
The good news is that, notwithstanding some hereditary conditions, dental disease can be so easily prevented. Prevention requires daily brushing and flossing and a conscious effort to avoid sweet, sticky foods that lie around the teeth and gums. Generally, the reason most people see a dentist is because they have toothache. This is much like locking the gate after the horse has bolted. If more people visited the dentist regularly, as part of their annual health plan, dental disease would not be the most prevalent disease in the world. Alliance For Affordable Health Insurance News
